What We Do

Formed in 2003, Badiee Development, Inc. (“BDI”) is a full-service real estate development company specializing in the ground-up development of distinctive logistics and industrial projects throughout the Western U.S.

Badiee Development is a conscientious development firm who seeks to identify amazing opportunities to develop industrial and logistics properties that can benefit the community by providing high quality environments that allow employers and employees to perform the highest level of productivity.

By partnering with like-minded investors and institutions, we intend to develop millions of square feet of buildings in the coming years.

Badiee Development is committed to enhance the communities and environment in which we develop by sharing a portion of company profits with these communities and for environmental stewardship. In particular, we are drawn to education and enhancement of opportunities for our youth, so they can see a better future for themselves and their communities. 

We treat everyone involved in our projects as team members. This includes our architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, landscape architects, interior designers, general contractors, sub-contractors, brokers, and all other consultants who impact our lives and the success of our projects.

Ben Badiee is the founder and CEO of BDI. Ben is an industrial engineer and serial entrepreneur who has started over 10 successful business ventures throughout his career, which helps him understand the needs of his tenants and their workforces, and to design spaces that are functional and allow for maximum productivity. Ben has been included on the list of The 50 Most Influential People in San Diego and was recently nominated to the San Diego Business Journal’s list of Most Admired CEOs. He was also featured in the National Edition of Success Magazine. In the past few years, BDI was named the 2nd and 5th Fastest Growing Company in San Diego by the San Diego Business Journal.



Ben Badiee


Ben Badiee is the founder and CEO of Badiee Development and has been involved in development for 30 years. Badiee has developed and has been involved with millions square feet of Class A real estate projects, including industrial, and logistic projects. Ben has a strong proven track record in real estate development and has also started several other successful business ventures throughout his career. He is involved in a variety of mentorship programs including NAIOP & and has mentored 100’s of young professionals. Ben has also been included on the list of the 50 Most Influential People in San Diego and was recently nominated to the SDBJ 2018 list of Most Admired CEO’s and featured in Success Magazine.

Ben is educated as an industrial engineer. Ben earned a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Tennessee Technical University.


Scott Merry

Vice President of Construction

Scott Merry is Vice President of Construction for Badiee Development and is responsible for full-service construction and project management, which includes due diligence and feasibility studies, programming, scheduling, entitlements, conceptual estimating, value engineering, constructability review and construction administration. Scott has developed over 4.5 million square feet of various real estate projects, including the ViaSat Building 10, a suburban office building. Scott has also founded development companies where he has specialized in due diligence, entitlements, construction document preparation, and construction administration of development projects.

Scott earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from San Luis Obispo and an A.A. degree from Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA.


John Buckel

Vice President of Operations

John Buckel has been involved in commercial real estate for over twenty-five years and has participated in the development of nearly two million square feet of buildings valued at just over $350 million throughout California. Prior to co-founding Capital Partners Development Company in 2002, he was the partner for the San Francisco Bay Area region of the international commercial development firm, Panattoni Development Company.

John has developed commercial projects of all types for both public- and private-sector clients, primarily office and industrial/flex buildings. His responsibilities have included all aspects of the development process from site location, to project concept, through entitlements, design, financing, construction, marketing and disposition.

John is a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and is a LEED® Accredited Professional of the U.S. Green Building Council. He is a frequent speaker and panelist on the topics of commercial development and sustainable building practices.


Ben Weiss

Chief Legal Counsel

Benjamin M. Weiss specializes in negotiating, structuring, documenting, and closing complex real estate, financing, corporate securities, and other business transactions. In the real estate industry, he represents developers, investors, lenders, tenants, and landlords in all phases of acquisition, financing, investment, development, leasing, and property management processes. In other industries, Ben assists clients in all of their commercial and corporate matters, including securities, mergers and acquisitions, and contract matters.

As an experienced former in-house General Counsel, Ben is an invaluable resource to companies that do not have in-house legal counsel. Ben has built a legal department from the ground up and is well-versed in the organizational and business issues that often entails. He also helps clients successfully navigate the landmines of labor and employment law and human resources issues that crop up from time to time.


Bob Badiee


Bob Badiee has extensive Accounting, Human Resource and Management experience including development and execution of corporate policies and procedures. He is an experienced analyst, strategic thinker, and a creative and flexible problem-solver. Bob is skilled in contract management and negotiations as well as customer relations and customer service. Bob has deep experience building accounting and auditing procedures for domestic and international operations and has established four unique accounting systems to operate and manage companies in the U.S., Mexico, and Latin America. He is also adept in Operations Management for retail, trade show and online operations.

Bob earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Oregon State University.


Logan Swanson


As the sixth member of the nimble Badiee Development team, Logan works closely with President & CEO of the company, Ben. In his short tenure at the company, Logan has underwritten $600 million worth of potential acquisitions and helped Badiee acquire three projects in excess of 900,000SF slated for ground-up industrial construction.

While Logan enjoys involvement in all aspects of the business, from underwriting to acquisitions, entitlements, and construction, he primarily focuses on financing and dispositions. From project inception to completion, Logan emphasizes meaningful relationships with all stakeholders in hopes of creating long-lasting correspondence.

Logan earned his degree in Real Estate Development from the University of California San Diego. He is an active member of San Diego’s National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and Urban Land Institute (ULI).


Reza Badiee

Property / Asset Manager

Reza Badiee is a distinguished alumnus of Bates College, where he graduated with honors. While at college, Reza excelled academically and showcased his abilities as an NCAA varsity football and lacrosse team member. This experience instilled in him a sense of discipline, teamwork, and determination that he seamlessly translates into his real estate ventures.

Reza’s fascination with the real estate sector ignited early on, and he eagerly seized every opportunity to gain practical exposure to different facets of the industry. He honed his skills and expanded his knowledge through various internships at reputable firms working different sectors including property management, development, acquisitions, and asset management roles. These internships gave him a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in real estate operations, enabling him to navigate the industry with confidence and expertise.

Throughout his professional journey, Reza has had the privilege of working with both large REITs and small private companies. This diverse experience has allowed him to gain insights into different market segments and develop a well-rounded perspective on real estate development and asset management. His hands-on experience managing and overseeing properties gives him a unique advantage in managing our assets.

Property Accountant

Melody Gillson is a seasoned member of our accounting team, handling various functions including reporting, accounts payable, and receivable, among others.
